VISIONS OF A GREENER WORLD: SOLUTIONS FOR TACKLING CLIMATE CHANGE - OSLO - 12 mar 2020 15:00
We live in a time of critical environmental uncertainty. Temperatures are rising, biodiversity is threatened, and the weather is more unpredictable than ever before. With a critical need for global action to reduce our emissions and improve the wellbeing of our planet, international collaboration is failing.
What looked so promising with the Paris Agreement is dangling by a thread. How can we amount to this challenge? We face an immediate pressure of coping with this common challenge. Across the world, protests are taking place and the climate movement is gaining momentum.
Imagine a world in 2040, where we have ‘succeeded’ with the climate. What will success mean in this scenario and what will it take us? In the upcoming member’s report, we will delve into the topic of climate solutions, both the ones that already exist and the ones on the horizon. The report will be divided into two parts.
First, we will present a catalogue of climate solutions existing in the cross-sections between the economic, technological, political, legal, and social spheres. Second, we will discuss the myths and challenges associated with the solutions, including the danger of non-scientific policymaking. The report is inspired by the Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies work the Danish Innovation Fund’s Climate Solutions Panel.
